Release Notes

# Darkelf Shadow CE 7.0.29

A macOS stability, interface refinement and distribution maintenance release focused on consistent floating panels, reliable application shutdown and improved native packaging.

What's New

**Unified Floating Panels:** Refined Settings and Darkelf Inspector with cleaner black rounded panels, removing redundant glass-like borders and excess spacing.

**Bookmarks Panel:** Redesigned the Bookmarks manager as a matching frameless floating panel while preserving existing bookmark functionality.

**Application Shutdown:** Fixed red-button closing behavior so Darkelf Shadow exits completely instead of remaining active in the macOS Dock.

**WebEngine Cleanup:** Improved shutdown handling to prevent replacement homepage tabs from being created during application exit.

**Faster Window Closing:** Refined the close sequence to hide the main window before completing background cleanup.

**DMG Appearance:** Updated macOS packaging to support a custom mounted-volume icon instead of the generic disk-image icon.

**Build Reliability:** Strengthened Nuitka module inclusion and validation to prevent missing browser-module errors in packaged builds.

**Code Quality:** Verified the Shadow package with Ruff linting.

Features Retained

Custom black macOS interface with traffic-light controls, rounded windows and flexible window arrangements.

Smart Canvas protection, WebGL fingerprint defenses and disabled WebRTC in the custom macOS engine.

Local MiniAI threat detection and advanced network filtering.

Custom Qt WebEngine 6.11.2 with H.264/AVC support and native WebAuthn integration.

Improved filter startup performance and website compatibility.

URL tracking-parameter cleanup and privacy-focused browsing controls.

Native macOS Developer ID signing, hardened runtime and Apple notarization.

Installation

**macOS ARM64:** Download the signed and notarized DMG from [GitHub Releases](https://github.com/Darkelf-Labs/Darkelf-Shadow-CE/releases).

**Python / PyPI:**

```bash
pip install --upgrade darkelf-shadow
```

The PyPI distribution uses the platform Qt WebEngine and does not include the custom macOS engine modifications.

Verification

Download the DMG and matching SHA-256 checksum file, then run:

```bash
shasum -a 256 -c Darkelf-Shadow-7.0.29.dmg.sha256
```

Expected output:

```text
Darkelf-Shadow-7.0.29.dmg: OK
```

Notes

Version 7.0.29 focuses on interface consistency, shutdown reliability and release packaging. Existing privacy protections, MiniAI functionality and browsing features remain unchanged.
