Release Notes
# 🍫 Darkelf Cocoa Browser v7.1.8
Native macOS browsing. Stronger content filtering, refined Browser Lock, and improved stability.
Darkelf Cocoa v7.1.8 builds on its **PyObjC + Apple WebKit** foundation with corrected WebKit content-rule compilation, improved website compatibility, refined native menu behavior, and continued privacy enhancements.
✨ What's New
🛡️ WebKit Content Filtering — v15.33
• Fixed a WebKit content-rule compilation error caused by conflicting trigger conditions that could prevent advertising and tracker rules from loading.
• Updated the Darkelf content-rule engine to **v15.33**, ensuring WebKit compiles a fresh rule list.
• Restored reliable content-blocking initialization in the compiled macOS application.
• Preserved site-aware protection handling for CNN, GameSpot, and Deutsche Welle.
• Retained the isolated Sentry script-filtering architecture.
🔒 Browser Lock Refinements
• Improved Browser Lock interaction with native macOS application menus.
• Refined menu accessibility and locked-state behavior.
• Retained native authentication through **LocalAuthentication**, supporting Touch ID or the Mac account password where available.
• Preserved startup authentication, approximately 10-minute inactivity locking, and Dock-minimization locking.
• Darkelf does not collect or store fingerprints or Mac passwords.
Browser Lock is an application-level access control, not a replacement for full-disk encryption or device security.
🎨 Native macOS Interface
• Improved application-menu interaction and consistency.
• Continued refinements to accent-aware controls, themes, and Darkelf branding.
• Preserved custom window movement, resizing, and arrangement controls.
• Retained the lower-left webpage link preview and native navigation behavior.
• Improved stability across browser menus, tabs, and interface components.
📋 Navigation and Shortcuts
• Retained **Paste and Go** in the address-bar context menu.
• Preserved **⇧⌘V (Shift–Command–V)** for opening copied addresses or searching clipboard text.
• Maintained familiar macOS keyboard shortcuts and the built-in Keyboard Shortcuts reference.
⚙️ Build and Stability
• Corrected content-rule compatibility with WebKit's trigger validation requirements.
• Improved consistency between Python-launched development builds and Nuitka-compiled macOS applications.
• Successfully completed pre-signing smoke testing of core browser functionality.
• Continued compatibility testing for CNN, GameSpot, ESPN, NBA, and NHL.

Notes
• **macOS only.** Darkelf Cocoa uses Apple WebKit, AppKit, and PyObjC.
• Touch ID availability depends on Mac hardware and macOS configuration; the system may offer account-password authentication.
• Reddit feed compatibility and Euronews behavior remain under investigation for a future release.
• Privacy protections reduce exposure but cannot guarantee anonymity, universal website compatibility, or complete removal of system-level artifacts.
• Content-blocking effectiveness varies by website and may change as websites update their advertising systems.
