Release Notes
🍫 Darkelf Cocoa Browser v7.1.7
Native macOS browsing. More control over access, appearance, and navigation.
Darkelf Cocoa v7.1.7 builds on its PyObjC + Apple WebKit foundation with an optional Browser Lock, more consistent accent-aware branding, and a faster way to open copied links.
✨ What's new
🔒 Optional Browser Lock
• Added native macOS authentication through LocalAuthentication (Touch ID or Mac account password, as supported by macOS).
• When enabled, Browser Lock checks access at startup.
• The browser can lock after 10 minutes of inactivity and when minimized to the Dock.
• Added a Browser Lock details page under Privacy & Security.
• Darkelf does not store fingerprints or Mac passwords.
Browser Lock is an app-level access control, not a replacement for full-disk encryption or device security.
🎨 Accent-synchronized Darkelf branding
• Refined the Darkelf shield/keyhole artwork so in-app branding follows the selected accent color.
• Improved visual consistency across tabs, the About interface, and the application icon.
• Preserved the native macOS layout and existing theme choices.
📋 Paste and Go
• Added Paste and Go to the address bar's custom right-click menu.
• Added ⇧⌘V (Shift–Command–V) and its entry in the Keyboard Shortcuts reference.
• Copied addresses navigate directly; other clipboard text uses the browser's existing search handling.
🛡️ Privacy and native integration
• Retains the existing WebKit-based content filtering, first-party isolation design, privacy status tools, and ephemeral browsing approach.
• Continues to use native AppKit menus, controls, and macOS window behavior.
