Release Notes
# 🧿 Darkelf Cocoa Browser v7.1.1
**Stable Release — October 11, 2026**
Darkelf Cocoa v7.1.1 builds on v7.0.28 with Darkelf-styled context menus, connected keyboard actions, a custom browsing-data confirmation panel, and accent synchronization refinements. Content Rules v15.15 and the existing privacy architecture are retained.
✨ Highlights
🪟 Window Management and Accent-Aware Popover (v7.1.1)
Introduced a compact Darkelf-styled **Move & Resize** panel connected to the macOS green window button.
Added positioning, fill, split-window, and four-window arrangement actions, with a refined four-pane icon.
Improved the popover's anchor and vertical offset for regular and fullscreen window states.
Fixed reported cases where the panel appeared near the bottom of the screen or covered the green window button.
Refined keyboard-event handling to prevent unrelated Reload tooltips or menu popups when using modifier keys.
Preserved accent synchronization for the popover's borders, controls, and icons.
Development testing showed Darkelf positioned alongside Firefox and Terminal. Arranging other applications may still require macOS Accessibility or Automation permissions.
The developer reported no further permission warning in the latest test; this is a test observation, not a guarantee for other installations.
🖱️ Custom Context Menus and Shortcuts
Added Darkelf-styled, accent-aware context menus for the address bar and general webpage actions.
Connected Cut, Copy, Paste, Select All, navigation, Reload, Copy Page URL, and Find in Page actions where applicable.
Improved suppression of overlapping native macOS text-editing context menus.
Updated the Keyboard Shortcuts panel, including **⇧⌘C** for Copy Page URL.
Removed **Passwords / Autofill** from the custom menus and removed its experimental shortcut.
Link- and image-specific webpage context actions remain future work.
🧹 Custom Browsing-Data Confirmation
Replaced the native clear-data alert with a Darkelf-styled confirmation panel using the current accent color.
Preserved the existing wipe action and cancellation path; destructive clearing still requires confirmation.
🎨 Find Bar Accent Synchronization
Updated the Find Bar close button to follow accent changes, including changes while the bar is open.
🧬 Fingerprinting Defenses
Restored and retained the original PQ-seeded fingerprinting implementation after experimental changes were reverted.
EFF Cover Your Tracks showed randomized fingerprint classification in development tests; classifications may vary between runs.
🛡️ Content Rules v15.15
Continued native WebKit-based network and cosmetic content filtering without a separate browser extension.
Refined site-specific advertisement handling, including CNN and GameSpot.
Preserved compatibility-conscious filtering rules intended to avoid interfering with legitimate page content.
🧹 Dynamic Cosmetic Ad Cleanup
Added targeted cleanup for residual ad slots and blank advertisement containers that remain after network blocking.
Added lightweight page observation to catch certain ad placements inserted after initial page load.
Kept cleanup conservative to reduce the risk of hiding articles, videos, and interactive page elements.
🎨 Homepage Accent Synchronization
Fixed existing Darkelf Home tabs retaining an outdated accent after changing colors while browsing another website.
Updated the homepage theme refresh to apply the current accent across all open Home tabs.
Preserved external webpage content and the existing Cocoa toolbar/tab accent behavior.
🎨 Native Cocoa Interface
Refined menu icon coloring and background theme selection controls.
Fixed hover behavior in the background theme picker.
Preserved configurable accent colors, homepage backgrounds, and the native Cocoa browsing interface.
💿 macOS Distribution
Added support in the release workflow for a custom **Darkelf Cocoa mounted-volume icon**, replacing the generic disk appearance when the newly built DMG is mounted.
Retained the existing Developer ID signing, notarization, stapling, and verification workflow.
🔒 Privacy & Compatibility
Continued ephemeral browsing, fingerprinting defenses, WebRTC restrictions, and local MiniAI Sentinel monitoring.
Maintained a focus on website compatibility alongside tracker and advertisement blocking.
🧪 Testing Notes
The earlier v7.0.26 filtering configuration produced a reported **93/100 on AdBlock Tester**. This is a historical test snapshot, **not a newly verified v7.1.1 result** or a guarantee of universal ad blocking.
The earlier cosmetic cleanup and homepage accent synchronization were reported working in development. The new context menus and shortcuts were also reported working after fixes. The latest window-management changes, Find Bar, and wipe-panel behavior still require final verification in a signed macOS build. Continue testing videos, articles, logins, and navigation on frequently used websites.
🔧 Upgrade Notes
Install v7.1.1 from the macOS DMG once published.
Test the custom window popover in normal and fullscreen modes, alongside the address-bar and webpage context menus, keyboard shortcuts, and clear-data confirmation before distribution.
The custom mounted-volume icon appears on **newly generated DMGs** made with the updated release workflow; it does not change previously published DMGs.
Report reproducible website breakage with the affected URL and browser logs where possible.
